Please click here to go to the research section of this website. 02/06 "Evidence for for Action: Strengthening After-School Programs for All Children and Youth: The Massachusetts Out-of_School Time Workforce," a research report of Achieve Boston and an initative of Boston After School & Beyond was written by Julie Dennehy (NIOST) and Gil Noam (PEAR). Click here to download the report. 01/06 PEAR has been awarded 3-year, one million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation to research informal science learning in after-school programs. Collaborating institutions are Exploratorium, Lawrence Hall of Science at U.C.-Berkeley, and Reginald Clark and 01/06 PEAR was awarded a 9-month grant from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation to create a "blueprint" for a program that combines SES (Supplemental Education Services) academic tutoring with engaging afterschool activities that increase peer learning and resilience. 11/05 A new report by The Higher Education Roundtable on Higher Education and After School will be released by PEAR shortly 11/05 For 2005-2006, PEAR is supporting the Cambridge Leading for Quality Initiative Training Series. You can see more information about the training sessions in the Training section of this website. 11/05 The United Way has agreed to serve as a co-sponsor for the 4th Annual "Learning with Excitement" Conference. 11/05 The Leon Lowenstein Foundation awarded PEAR a two year $50,000 grant. 10/05 Partners for Student Success an exciting initiative in Boston has just released an RFP to Boston Public Schools to participate in a pilot grant initiative that will provide a comprehensive package of supports aimed at improving the ability of selected schools to meet the academic, social, emotional and developmental needs of its most at-risk students. Grant awards will support greater integration and coordination of academic instruction, remedial tutoring, out-of-school time programming, family outreach and health and mental health services as well as the expansion of out-of-school time programming to serve more of the school's most at-risk students. Partners for Student Success is an initiative of Mayor Thomas M. Menino, the Boston Public Schools, Boston After School & Beyond, and wide number of private funders and collaborators, including Harvard University's Program in Education, Afterschool and Resiliency (PEAR), Massachusetts 2020 Foundation, The Boston Foundation, the Full-service Schools Roundtable. 09/23/05 Click here to read the press release and here for a picture (Adobe Acrobat Required) 06/16/05 A reception hosted by Stacey and Larry Lucchino at the Game On!
