| Programs & Projects Activity-Based Learning - A Collaboration with The Derek Bok Center The Activity-Based Learning Project involves a collection of courses that offer opportunities for students to do public service, fieldwork, community-based research and internships in conjunction with their course work. The aim of these courses is to further enrich the academic experience and learning outcomes through connecting theory and practice. The pedagogies create opportunities for students to connect the theories, methods, and concepts from courses to data and experiences in the community. The project also includes a research component that focuses on student learning experiences and learning outcomes. Since the Fall semester 2005, students in seventeen courses have participated in activity-based learning with over 40 non-profit organizations throughout greater Boston. Many placements were made in collaboration with Harvard’s Phillips Brooks House Association and Public Service Network programs and organizations.
