Comments:

Subsequent studies using DAST have included a checklist for raters, created follow-up questions and surveys with “artists,” and modified the instructions. Advantages: -no reading, writing or verbal skills needed -minimizes possibility of “socially-desirable” responses -little time to administer Disadvantages: -vague instructions -children may know more about scientists than their drawings reveal
